Deer River Man Sentenced to 140 Months for Sex Crimes

Deer River, Itasca County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A Deer River man has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison following his conviction on multiple sex crime charges involving a minor.

Court records show Colin James Rushman was sentenced this month to 140 months in prison. He received credit for 258 days already served and will face conditional release after serving 10 years. Rushman was previously found guilty of two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, attempted criminal sexual conduct involving a victim under 14, and violating a no-contact order.

According to investigators, Rushman engaged in sexual contact with a female victim under the age of 14. The crimes occurred despite a no-contact order placed against him by the victim’s mother.

As part of his sentencing, Rushman must register as a predatory offender and comply with strict release conditions following his prison term. The court stressed the seriousness of the crimes and the impact on the young victim.
