Deer Lake Township (trfnews.i234.me) – On December 13, 2025, at 10:48 PM, a 2022 GMC Sierra, driven by 42-year-old Brandon Jay Gunderson of Sauk Rapids, MN, veered to the right while traveling southbound on Highway 6 south of Itasca County Road 270 in Deer Lake Township, Itasca County. The vehicle left the roadway, went down a steep embankment, and struck several trees.
Gunderson, who was not wearing his seat belt, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Grand Itasca for treatment. His passenger, 45-year-old Ryan Steven Voigt, also from Sauk Rapids, MN, was wearing his seat belt and was uninjured. It was reported that alcohol was involved in the crash.
The road conditions were dry at the time of the incident. Itasca County authorities responded to the scene.
