Deer Collision on Highway 59 Leaves Harley Trike Passenger Injured in Red Lake County

BROOKS, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A collision with a deer on Highway 59 near milepost 338 in Red Lake County, Minnesota, led to a non-life-threatening injury for a 69-year-old passenger on a Harley Trike. The incident occurred on the evening of August 31, 2024, when the motorcycle, driven by 70-year-old Robert Lee Scholin of Thief River Falls, was traveling northbound.

The Harley Trike struck a deer that suddenly crossed the road near 210th Street SE. Despite the severity of the collision, Scholin escaped unharmed. However, his passenger, Lynda Diane Scholin, also of Thief River Falls, was injured and transported to Sandford E.R. in Thief River Falls for treatment.

The road conditions were dry at the time, and no alcohol was involved in the incident. Emergency services, including the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Plummer Fire, and Oaklee Ambulance, responded to the scene. The case is being handled by local authorities for further investigation.
