DEDICATION TO FALLEN HEROES: Burnsville Bridge Renamed After Officers & Paramedic Killed In Domestic Violence Tragedy

Burnsville, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — A powerful tribute to three fallen Burnsville first responders has been made official. The Minnesota House voted unanimously on Thursday to rename a bridge over Interstate 35 as the Elmstrand Finseth Ruge Heroes Memorial Bridge, honoring those who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.

The newly named bridge, located on Burnsville Parkway, will carry the names of Officers Paul Elmstrand, Matthew Ruge, and firefighter/paramedic Adam Finseth, who were tragically shot and killed while responding to a domestic violence call in February 2024.

Representative Jeff Witte of Lakeville, who introduced the bill, stated:
“This is more than a name. It’s a lasting tribute to three individuals who embodied courage, duty, and selflessness. Each time someone crosses that bridge, they will be reminded of the ultimate sacrifice these heroes made for their community.”

The official designation stands as a solemn reminder of the risks first responders face each day and the lives lost protecting others.
