Deborah “Deb” Dahlen, 68 of Thief River Falls passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND with her loving family by her side.
The memorial service to celebrate Deb’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Wollenzein officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service on Monday.
Deborah Clarion Schantzen was born February 16, 1953, in Thief River Falls, MN the daughter of Lawrence “Si” and Donna (Pederson) Schantzen. She was baptized June 27, 1953, and confirmed on November 3, 1968, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Deb attended Knox Elementary School, Franklin Middle School, and Lincoln High Schools in Thief River Falls.
Following high school, Deb went to work at Arctic Enterprises in Thief River Falls for a few years. Then drove a bus for Tri-Valley and eventually went to work for the Thief River Falls School District as a bus driver until her retirement in 2018. Deb was also a proud business owner of More To Love, a clothing store in Thief River Falls for several years.
Deb enjoyed 4-wheeling, home improvements, going to the casino, playing cards & game days with her friends, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She worked hard, played hard & loved the hardest of all.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.
Survivors include daughters, Toni (Brian) Gillespie of Lakeville, MN and Angela Dahlen of Thief River Falls; 3 grandchildren, Cole & Grace Gillespie and Dayle Dahlen; siblings, Wayne (Kitty) Schantzen, Dale (Betty) Schantzen, Nancy (Mitch) Anderson all of Thief River Falls, David (Teresa) Schantzen of East Grand Forks, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Gwen Pilgrim and Pam Schantzen.
