Hennepin County (trfnews.i234.me) – A 20-year-old man is wanted and facing serious charges after allegedly opening fire outside a south Minneapolis home Tuesday evening, killing one man and narrowly missing three women.

According to court documents, Deshon Kanye Gregory arrived at a residence near 15th Street and 11th Avenue South around 6:30 p.m. on July 15 after texting a woman he had dated, demanding she “come out.” The woman told police Gregory was enraged over $40 she had borrowed from him during their previous relationship. He reportedly brought another woman with him and attempted to start a fight.

Earlier that same day, Minneapolis police had already responded to the home when Gregory showed up with a man armed with a gun who was threatening people. That man was taken into custody, and a search warrant was executed at the property.

Despite this police intervention, Gregory returned later that evening and again confronted the woman. The situation escalated when Gregory allegedly threatened one of her sisters, then backed into the street and opened fire on four people gathered in the front yard and on the porch.

Thirty-year-old Lafayette Anthony Collaso, who was on the porch, was hit and died at the scene. The three women—including the woman Gregory had been texting and her two sisters—were not injured.

Investigators recovered eleven 9mm shell casings from the scene, and surveillance footage reportedly captured the incident.

Gregory fled and remains at large. Due to public safety concerns, a judge has issued a warrant for his arrest and set bail at $1.5 million.

Gregory is no stranger to the justice system. He is currently facing two other assault cases in Hennepin County—one for felony domestic assault by strangulation and another for gross misdemeanor assault. He’s also under juvenile court supervision.

If convicted of second-degree intentional murder, Gregory could face up to 40 years in prison. Each of the three attempted murder charges carries a potential 20-year sentence.
