ST PAUL, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) – The St. Paul Police Department is seeking 37-year-old Mychal Allan Stowers in connection with two counts of second-degree murder and other charges related to a shooting incident on October 19.
According to a criminal complaint filed against him, Stowers allegedly shot his ex-wife, Damara Alexis Stowers (35), at her apartment located at 139 Sycamore Street East. The victim was found dead by paramedics who responded to the scene just before 9:30 pm.
The investigation revealed that Stowers had been living in the same apartment with his ex-wife despite being prohibited from doing so under their lease agreement. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots coming from the apartment and later seeing a heavyset man, described as being in his late 30s or early 40s, fleeing the scene.
Additionally, an employee of the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Stowers stating that he had shot someone and wanted to turn himself in. However, despite this claim, Stowers did not surrender to authorities.
Further investigation led police to another crime scene where a man was found with a gunshot wound to his leg after being carjacked by the same suspect at 99 Acker Street. The victim’s friend reported that they were standing outside their running vehicle when Stowers approached them and shot one of them before stealing their gray Audi.
Preliminary tests indicate that the same gun used in both incidents was fired from a loaded handgun found on a bed in Damara Alexis Stowers’ apartment, along with photos from an ultrasound. The investigation also revealed that Mychal Allan Stowers had been released from prison earlier this year after serving time for another murder and was supposed to be living at a halfway house.
At the moment, Michael Stowers is not in custody.
