WILLMAR, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Ameer Musa Matariyeh, a 25-year-old man from Minneapolis, has been charged with second-degree murder and multiple other felonies following a multi-county shooting spree that left one person dead.
According to court documents filed in Kandiyohi County, the crime spree began around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday when Matariyeh fired several rounds at his estranged girlfriend and her new partner from an Uptown apartment building in Minneapolis.
The incident continued through multiple counties as Matariyeh was pursued by police at high speed before entering Kandiyohi County. A 911 call was made shortly after 1:50 p.m. reporting that a man had been shot in the chest on a farmstead in Lake Lillian, where investigators later discovered multiple bullet holes in the home’s windows and walls.
Matariyeh continued to flee west at speeds reaching up to 130 mph before eventually being apprehended by law enforcement without incident. The firearms allegedly used in the shootings were recovered near the highway median.
The victim of the shooting was identified as Jerome Skluzacek, a 55-year-old man from New London who was shot in the head and declared dead on the scene.
Additional charges could be filed against Matariyeh in Hennepin County in connection with the initial shooting incident in Minneapolis.
