Mahnomen County (trfnews.i234.me) — A tragic police pursuit ended in death Wednesday, July 9, after a Thief River Falls man collided head-on with a semi-truck north of Mahnomen.

According to the Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office, Norman County deputies had attempted a welfare check on 33-year-old Jerry Redden, reported to be suicidal. When they tried to stop his vehicle in Norman County, Redden fled, triggering a multi-agency pursuit.

The chase continued west on Highway 200, then turned north on Highway 59 into Mahnomen County, with Mahnomen deputies and White Earth Police joining in.

Roughly four miles north of Mahnomen, Redden veered into the oncoming lane and slammed into a semi-truck in a violent head-on crash. Redden was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver was not injured.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.

I’m Chris Harper reporting for TRF News.
