MOORHEAD, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – We have an update regarding an early Sunday morning murder in Moorhead, Minnesota. Connie Jo Frank has now been charged with second-degree murder following the fatal stabbing of her on-again, off-again boyfriend.
According to the statement of probable cause, at approximately 12:18 a.m. on Sunday, Moorhead police responded to a report of a stabbing at 1025 3rd Avenue North. Officers arrived to find an injured male who was pronounced dead at 1:05 a.m. The victim had sustained a stab wound to the upper chest and abrasions on his forehead and head.
Two male residents at the address provided statements to law enforcement. The first witness, known by the initials D.A.T., confirmed he knew the victim as Connie Jo Frank’s ex-boyfriend. He recounted hearing an argument between Frank and the victim earlier in the night. He observed a physical altercation and went upstairs to get Frank’s adult son for help. When he returned, he found the victim with a stab wound and Frank had fled the scene. He then called the police.
The son corroborated these events, acknowledging the tumultuous five-year relationship between Frank and the victim. He had also heard the argument and saw the victim injured before contacting the authorities.
Frank returned to the residence while the police were still present and was promptly detained. During transport to the Clay County Jail, she made several incriminating statements, including, “I stabbed his ass, and I would kill him again.” At the jail, she admitted to a five-year on-and-off relationship with the victim. She stated that the victim had been knocking on the windows earlier, and feeling exhausted by the situation, she grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed him in the chest.
A kitchen knife was recovered near the scene and video surveillance from a nearby neighbor captured audio of the incident, including Frank’s yells and the victim’s cries for help.
Connie Jo Frank is now formally charged with second-degree murder, a charge carrying a maximum sentence of up to 40 years in prison.
