Crosslake – Dale Robert Hanson, of Crosslake, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026.
Dale was born on July 26, 1959, at 4:12 a.m. in Thief River Falls, weighing 6 lbs. 10½ oz. and measuring 20½ inches long. He was baptized on October 18, 1959, and confirmed on May 5, 1974, milestones that shaped the foundation of his life.
Raised in northern Minnesota, Dale graduated from Middle River High School on May 22, 1977. He was an accomplished athlete, playing baseball, football, basketball and golf. His love of sports continued throughout his entire life. During his high school years Dale worked for the Thief Lake DNR and assisted farmers during the summer months. After graduating from Middle River High School, he attended Northland Community College.
After college, he served as a Fireman/Paramedic with the Williston Fire Department in North Dakota. He also worked as a Realtor for Edina Realty and Sales Manager for Enbridge Gas Co. in Williston, North Dakota. Dale later served his community through the Crosslake USPS. In every role, he was known for his reliability, work ethic and friendly demeanor. Dale took pride in his performance as well as his appearance.
A man deeply connected to the outdoors, Dale cherished time spent fishing, kayaking, bird hunting, golfing and exploring nature. He loved farm life, family pets and the history of the region he called home. Cooking was one of his joys—he delighted in trying new recipes and sharing meals with those he loved.
Above all, Dale treasured his family. He found immense happiness watching his sons, Jaron and Jagar, play sports and visiting the farm to spend time with family. His presence was steady, warm, always supportive and full of laughter and humor.
Dale was a proud member of the American Legion SAL of Middle River, Post 444, honoring the traditions and values that meant so much to him and his family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Hjalmer Hanson; both maternal and paternal grandparents.
Dale is survived by his two sons, Jaron and Jagar; his mother, Patricia Hanson; and his siblings, Harlyn (Traci), Diane, Rory (Kerry), and Tarayn. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will forever hold his memory close.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Thief Lake, MN.
Visitation will be held after 5 p.m., on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Collins Funeral Chapel in Middle River.
Interment services will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Thief Lake, MN.
