Crosslake, Crow Wing County (trfnews.i234.me) ā A Merrifield man is facing felony drug charges and new impaired driving counts after a traffic stop in Crosslake.
What the police say happened
Court records say an officer saw a driver fail to signal a turn onto County Road 16.
The stop happened at about 5:27 p.m. on February 16, 2026, the complaint says.
Police identified the driver as Dustin Larry Campbell, 34, of Merrifield.
The officer reported signs of impairment during the stop.
Campbell said he had just been at a karate drop-off for his six-year-old daughter.
Police then ran field sobriety tests and reported clues of impairment.
Campbell agreed to a search of the vehicle, the complaint says.
Police say they found butane torches, marijuana, and a pipe used for methamphetamine inside the car.
Police also asked Campbell to empty his pockets, and he agreed, the complaint says.
Officers say a fake bolt container held suspected methamphetamine.
After a rights warning, Campbell allegedly said he had eaten methamphetamine earlier that day.
Police arrested him and later sought a warrant for a urine test.
Police say he provided a urine sample after the warrant was issued.

Charges filed
Campbell is charged with felony fifth-degree drug possession.
He also faces two gross misdemeanor counts of driving while impaired.
The complaint cites a prior DWI conviction as an aggravating factor.
The complaint also says a child under 16 was in the vehicle.

At an initial appearance, Judge Chuck Halverson set release with conditions at $0.
The judge also set unconditional bail at $12,000.
Charges are allegations, and Campbell is presumed innocent in court.
