CROOKSTON, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – We have an update on the aftermath of a deadly police shooting at the Crookston, Minnesota homeless shelter on June 30th. The shelter, closed since the incident, will reopen on July 18th following extensive cleanup and renovations. Residents have been temporarily relocated to other facilities funded by community support.
Christopher Junkin, a 44-year-old shelter resident, was fatally shot by Officer Nick Fladeland of the Crookston Police. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) continues its investigation into the shooting. County Attorney Greg Widseth awaits the BCA’s final report to determine if charges will be filed against Officer Fladeland.
In response to inquiries, Widseth stated, “The BCA’s investigation is ongoing, and we have not received their findings yet.” The community remains vigilant for updates on this developing story.
