Polk County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Crookston man is facing a gross misdemeanor DWI charge after being stopped for driving without rear lights and admitting multiple times he was too drunk to drive.
On the night of July 1, 2025, an Officer observed a Ford F-150 traveling northbound on North Broadway without illuminated rear lights. Upon pulling the vehicle over, the driver was identified as Bruce Wayne Schipper, 65, of Crookston.
When asked if he had been drinking, Schipper admitted, “A little bit,” then later, “I’m over” the legal limit. He declined to perform field sobriety tests and told officers, “I’m guilty,” even before a breath test was administered. A preliminary breath test showed a .197 BAC, and a subsequent DMT test confirmed a .20 BAC.
Schipper was arrested and transported to the Northwest Regional Corrections Center. He faces a third-degree DWI charge with a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine.
