Polk County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Crookston man is facing multiple charges, including a felony, following a reported incident of threats and domestic assault.

Court records show 34-year-old Dustin Thomas Williams has been charged with felony threats of violence, misdemeanor violation of a no-contact order, and misdemeanor domestic assault. The charges stem from an August 5 incident involving a female victim.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim told investigators that Williams threatened to harm her cat and to slit her throat. She stated that he did not have a knife during the incident, and Williams reportedly confirmed he had no weapon.

Police say the threats were made despite an active no-contact order between Williams and the victim. The order was issued in a prior case involving the same parties.

The Polk County Attorney’s Office has filed the charges, and Williams is being held pending further court proceedings. If convicted, felony threats of violence in Minnesota can carry a prison sentence of up to five years and a fine of up to $10,000.

Authorities have not released further details about the relationship between the suspect and the victim or the circumstances leading to the confrontation.
