Crookston, Polk County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Red Lake man is charged with a gas station car theft.

Keenan Klayton Konrad Beaulieu, 26, of Red Lake, is charged with felony unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

The count is listed under Minnesota Statute 609.52, subdivision 2(a)(17).

What happened

According to the complaint, the theft happened on January 1, 2026, at about 9:20 pm.

The victim stopped at the M & H gas station in Crookston.

He left his gold 2004 Dodge Intrepid running and unlocked.

The keys were in the ignition.

He went inside for about 10 minutes.

When he returned, the car was gone.

The victim reported the theft soon after, the complaint says.

Police reviewed security video from the store.

The video shows a man in a dark winter coat entering the car.

The man then drives away.

How police found the car

Investigators say Beaulieu was released from the Northwest Regional Corrections Center earlier that day.

They also say he was seen at a nearby assistance center.

He was wearing a black and purple jacket, according to the filing.

On January 5, 2026, detectives received an update from the Minneapolis Police Department.

Police in Minneapolis had located the Dodge during a stop, the complaint says.

They reported Beaulieu was driving the stolen car.

He was arrested in Minneapolis on a related stolen property case.

The Crookston case was later tied to that stop, investigators said.

Court status

A court filing dated January 6, 2026, lists the Crookston charge as a felony.

Judge Anne Rasmusson set bail at $0 with conditions.

The judge ordered Beaulieu held for court.

The filing also lists prior convictions.

They include receiving stolen property in 2024.

They also include two theft convictions from late 2025.

The filing says Beaulieu has pending cases in Mahnomen County.

Those cases include domestic assault and underage consumption.
