Crookston: 23 Held On ICE Detainers At Jail

Crookston, Polk County, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — A recent jail roster for the Northwest Regional Corrections Center in Crookston lists 23 people held on “Hold – INS,” which indicates an immigration detainer.

The roster is posted by Tri-County Community Corrections. The list can change as inmates are booked or released.

What an ICE detainer means

ICE says an immigration detainer is a request. It asks a jail to notify ICE before a person is released. It may also request a short hold time under certain rules.

Families looking for someone in ICE custody can also use the ICE Online Detainee Locator System.

23 names listed with “Hold – INS.”

According to the posted NWRCC jail roster, these 23 people were listed with “Hold – INS.”

Important note

An ICE detainer is not a criminal charge. It is tied to immigration enforcement. Court outcomes can differ by case.

    1. Wero Hetty Take you with them.. All you perfect guys on here should all go.also. Take your mean ,rude ways with.Where you from? You have brown skin also.

    1. Tammy Balderston you can’t believe what…? That ICE is getting the fraudsters out of MN/USA. Over a Billion dollars stolen… 🤔. If you think this is the problem… Then YOU are the problem…

      1. Julie Hinden Jenson those people work harder than half the people that live in the United States some of the people that live in the United States sit on their ass all day and do nothing collect checks from the welfare

      2. Tammy Balderston at least they are US citizens collecting gov’t $. The whole system needs an overhaul.

I’m all for people working hard. Coming into the USA the right way to better themselves. But I believe this post is about the missing billion dollars of fraud $ missing from us Minnesota tax payers… It was all a fraud ring within the Somalians based in MN. Wrap your head around that. A BILLION! That just doesn’t happen overnight. That takes a lot of looking the other way. They have corrupted our government m, especially here in Minnesota. It’s not that we are racist – we are stating the fact that it was the Somalians that stole it. They have ruined our school system – overwhelming our classrooms. They get all medical and dental paid for. Monthly government help. They come here and the majority don’t ever better themselves.

      3. Tammy Balderston Your thinking…ridiculous ! 🙄 so “they” work hard, so it’s ok to let them keep stealing and committing fraud.

But you complain about the US citizens “collecting” govt help and sitting on their butts. 🤔

      4. Julie Hinden Jenson No I complaining because of going into people’s houses and they’re just grabbing them off the streets like they’re nothing they’re still people

  1. See…if all of the cities would just let ice come into the jails and safely take custody of the criminal illegals, there would be no need for them to go through the city streets to find them, possibly finding some non criminal illegals that end up going back home as well.

    1. Shaun Page if ICE wouldn’t come to town looking for skin color and let law enforcement do their job I would be just like this.Just come get them.
I didn’t even know Somalians were in Crookston.🤔

      1. Pat Ness Coauette the problem is that cities will refuse to notify ice of criminal illegals in custody. Instead they release them to reoffend, which they usually do. So ice has to go to the streets looking for them. And when they are being hidden by non-criminal illegal aliens, then those also get arrested and deported. This is all on the sanctuary cities policies. They know this. It’s why they are doing it.

      2. Shaun Page so I assume the laughing emoji is a no I don’t have any data to support my post. It’s easy to blather on FB but harder to support your rhetoric.

  2. Back in the ‘40’s, 407,000 US military lost their lives to bring down fascism in Germany. Back then, people could deny they supported the Nazis as they rounded up fellow human beings to “cleanse” Germany of all Jewish people. They openly applauded and spit on them as they were herded into cattle cars destined for concentration camps. There was nobody documenting who the Nazi sympathizers were. On here, people are willing to commit their names to history applauding as fellow human beings are rounded up and sent to concentration camps in America. Wow.

    1. Sheila Fontaine if we are only going to enforce the laws you like Sheila, how fast should I be able to drive on I29? I have a BMW that goes up to 160 mph, and I’m in a hurry!

  3. They don’t even know if any of these people are actually criminals OR undocumented. If you’re congratulating and supporting this simply because they have gathered up a bunch of non white people and detained them…without even knowing if they are being held legitimately or not…then your racism is loud and very much noticed.
    Embarrassing human behavior.

      1. TRF News did you not read your own article? It says it right in there….that being detained doesn’t mean they have done anything criminal. I guess we know what news you post is in favor of, given your reaction.

    1. Carrie Hagman They obviously don’t have documentation they are here legally. That shouldn’t be hard to show.
How would you know they are being held illegally anyhow?

      1. Pat Ness Coauette I’m guessing that you haven’t been hearing about the amount of people being detained even with identification and a few actual American citizens/veterans as well. There have been lots of instances where the person I.C.E. is trying to detain is literally shouting to them that they have identification on them and will show them but they still get cuffed and taken away. The point of my comment, is to point out the fact that this is blatant racial profiling. To see people cheering and clapping over 34 human beings that they are automatically assuming are bad or criminals before they even know the facts, simply because they are people of color taken in by I.C.E….is a very clear, racist reaction. I’m sorry if that upsets you or hurts yours or anyone’s feelings, but….racism does run quite deep in this country. A lot of times we don’t even realize that we have been unintentionally taught racist ideologies and mindsets. That’s why allowing yourself to grow and evolve as a person, and to keep learning becomes important as you get older. To unlearn behaviors that cause harm and do better as a fellow human on this shared earth.
Also, again, it does state in the article if you read it…that just because they were detained, doesn’t mean they even have any criminal charges.

      2. Carrie Hagman I have family members who are full blooded Mexican I have not one ounce of prejudice in me. My son-in-law has been stopped several times. He lives in Norfolk Va. He has 20 years of service in the Air Force and continues his job as a civilian now. But he always carry’s his government ID. They look and let him go.
While in Virginia Beach a few weeks ago the maintenance man at our hotel came from Syria in 1989 and became a American citizen. He also carry’s his government ID. So you see I do know about it. You need to be educated how many illegals have snuck into our country. Have you ever tried to cross the Canadian Boarder with out the proper ID. Well Carman you should try it and see how far you get. Merry Christmas 🎅🏻

      3. Pat Ness Coauette It sounds like you’re suggesting that just because you or someone you personally know hasn’t been wrongfully detained or affected, yet, that it just isn’t happening at all. Which would be completely untrue…also, narrow minded and bigoted, but I’m sure you are not that kind of person. I’m just honestly not sure what other kind of point you were attempting to make?

      4. Carrie Hagman my point is if you are not in America legally you need to leave. The government is also providing free airfare and $3,000.to those who leave on their own.
Now don’t you have something else to do?

      5. Carrie Hagman You say LOTS of legal immigrants or even Americans have been arrested and detained by ice. Can you share 1 actually piece of evidence to that claim? Cause I have only seen that claim on Social Media and then spun articles on far left media that make it sound like it has happened but don’t actually confirm it. By using words like it could, or it might, there is a concern, etc. Most seem to stem from when a legal is surrounded by illegals and ICE detains the group. Then they verify identity, and legal parties are let to go about their day. I can’t find anything were people were actually detained that were legal.

    2. Carrie Hagman You don’t have the foggiest idea what you’re talking about. If they are being held on an ICE detainer (which they are) it means they are in the United States ILLEGALLY. According to immigration laws, if they are arrested, they are to be held for immediate deportation. This has been the law like, forever. Their race has zero to do with anything.

      1. Brad Steiner I mean…I do kind of know, as I follow this stuff pretty closely. From many various sources. Did you happen to read or watch anything that I posted on here for sources? It would be the appropriate action to take before coming at someone telling them they don’t know anything.
I’m sorry to be the one to inform you….but they have indeed detained legal immigrants and U.S. citizens. It’s not a matter of what you personally believe or not, it is factually happening. Also, the rule of law is clearly not actually followed anymore by most within the administration and it’s agencies. It’s quite publicly available to look up all the infractions if you are interested in what is all going on right now.

      2. Carrie Hagman Let me explain this to you again. If they have an ICE detainer attached to their name, then their status of being in the United States illegally has ALREADY been determined before they were arrested for whatever they got arrested for. These are NOT people getting rounded up, or accidentally caught up in immigration raids. They are required by EXISTING US IMMIGRATION LAWS to be immediately deported upon adjudication of their case for which they were arrested. Your activism is irrelevant. The point you’re trying to make (at least in regard to these arrestees) does not apply here.

      3. Brad Steiner So….no….you didn’t bother to look at anything. It doesn’t surprise me. Most supporters of this don’t actually care to be truly informed or educated, they just want to keep repeating themselves with such confidence that they convince themselves that what they are saying is true. I’m not interested in hearing the comments of people who refuse to acknowledge facts laid out in front of them. That’s chosen ignorance. YOU are not paying attention. What you are explaining, may be the way it is SUPPOSED to be handled….but it’s not how things are playing out in reality. Please, look it up.

      4. Carrie Hagman YOU are the one that brought your activism to this post. You are arguing a point that has nothing to do with these specific arrestees. As usual, as a lefty, you were triggered by this article and facts be damned. I’m not arguing that a few people might be getting caught up in ICE raids that shouldn’t be. It probably happens. However, in this situation, your point has nothing to do with the article you chose, and it certainly has nothing to do with race. Remember, these mass deportations wouldn’t even be necessary if your dementia-ridden President hadn’t opened the borders up to whomever had the idea to violate US law and enter illegally. Biden failed the USA in a criminal attempt to transform the demographics of the country he swore to protect into a third world banana republic simply because he needed more Democrat voters. Now, like everything else he messed up, it’s Trump’s job to clean it up and restore the rule of law.

      5. Brad Steiner I’d like her to invite one to reuse on her home. Let’s see how that would go. She won’t. She posts the rhetoric. She wears the shirt. She doesn’t act though. She doesn’t make a difference. It’s just social media keyboard BS from
Yet another sympathizer and unAmerican!!! No surprise.

  4. the ones that come over here illegally were all colored .and they were all undocumented. we dont need any of our young girls killed or raped by these young men .
