How the Crash Happened

According to law enforcement, the Ford Edge, driven by 26-year-old Elijah Ramel Kelly of Rochester, MN, was traveling eastbound on Highway 14 when the GMC Envoy, driven by 24-year-old David Alexis Mesta of Faribault, MN, attempted to make a left turn onto Southbound Highway 52. The two vehicles collided at the intersection, causing airbag deployment in both vehicles.

Injuries & Emergency Response

  • Elijah Kelly sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital for treatment.
  • David Mesta did not sustain any injuries and did not require medical attention.

The Rochester Police Department, Rochester Fire Department, and MCAS responded to the scene. Authorities confirmed that both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Wet Roads & Traffic Safety Warning

Officials noted that wet road conditions may have contributed to the crash. This incident serves as another reminder for drivers in Olmsted County (trfnews.i234.me) to exercise caution, especially at busy intersections.
