Narrative
On the evening of June 8, a 15-year-old male driver was traveling northbound on 167th Ave SE, about four miles north of Walcott and one mile south of Highway 46. The driver swerved to avoid a deer crossing the road, causing the vehicle to veer into the west ditch and into a field. The 2012 Ford Edge became stuck in the corn stubble and caught fire. The driver managed to escape the vehicle safely.
Kindred Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported, but the vehicle was a total loss.
