Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Badger, Minnesota woman with a history of serious felonies, including second-degree murder, is now facing new charges after allegedly stealing more than $1,200 in merchandise from Walmart over four visits.
Desiree Nicole Shinholser, 37, has been charged in Pennington County District Court with felony theft. According to court documents, between March 21 and April 14, 2025, Shinholser repeatedly used self-checkout lanes at Walmart to intentionally skip scanning higher-value items.
On four separate occasions, Shinholser is accused of stealing:
-
A $23.58 organizer
-
Over $159 worth of Pokémon cards, pet collars, and tools
-
$464.29 in unscanned merchandise
-
And a final theft totaling $578.13, involving strategic deception at checkout
In total, the stolen merchandise exceeded $1,225. Surveillance footage and Walmart Asset Protection confirmed the thefts. Authorities also noted Shinholser’s prior felony convictions for 2nd-degree murder (2013) and introducing contraband into a state prison (2022).
Shinholser has been summoned to court to face the new felony charge.
