Columbia Heights (trfnews.i234.me) – In a disturbing development from Anoka County, the father of 16-year-old Jordan “Manny” Collins Jr. has been arrested following the discovery of the teen’s remains at a landfill in Elk River, Minnesota.

Jordan Dupree Collins Sr., 38, of Columbia Heights, was taken into custody on Monday, though formal charges have not yet been filed, according to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.

The grim discovery was made last Tuesday, nearly two months after Collins Jr. was reported missing. Authorities say the teen was last seen on May 8 near the 4900 block of University Avenue Northeast, living with his father in an apartment since mid-April.

On June 4, investigators began combing through the landfill after receiving critical video evidence suggesting the teen’s body may have ended up in a dumpster and subsequently transported by a garbage truck. Sheriff Brad Wise confirmed the remains came from a Columbia Heights dumpster and estimated the death occurred between May 8 and May 13.

An autopsy has been completed, but the cause of death remains undetermined, according to Columbia Heights Police Chief Matt Markham.
