Stearns County (trfnews.i234.me)—A serious crash occurred on April 2, 2025, at 13:36 on eastbound Interstate 94 near Milepost 157, in Saint Wendel Township, Stearns County. Abdiaziz Abdulahi Elmi, 42, of Saint Cloud, MN, was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse when he collided with a 2022 FTL Semi Truck driven by Donald Laverne Loback, 51, of Wheeler, WI.
Both vehicles were traveling eastbound on Interstate 94 when the collision occurred. Elmi, the driver of the Chevrolet Traverse, did not sustain any injuries and was unharmed. However, Maryan C Dahir, 48, a passenger in the Traverse, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Cloud Hospital for medical treatment.
The crash took place under snowy and icy road conditions, which likely contributed to the incident. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, and no alcohol was involved in the crash.
Emergency responders from Avon Fire, Avon Police Department, and Mayo Ambulance were quick to assist at the scene.
