New York Mills, MN (trfnews.i234.me)—Cody William Steinbach of New York Mills, Minnesota, is now facing a felony charge of assault with a dangerous weapon after allegedly firing a gun and threatening a woman during a heated domestic dispute in Otter Tail County.

Gunshot Fired During Domestic Dispute

According to court documents, Otter Tail County deputies responded to a disturbance call at a residence on Highway 67 in rural New York Mills on January 27, 2025.

  • The female victim reported that an argument broke out over their breakup.
  • During the altercation, Steinbach allegedly fired a shot from a .22 pistol near the garage door.
  • He then pointed the gun at the victim’s chest and shouted:
    • “Get the f* out. I f*ing hate you.”

Felony Charges Filed

Steinbach is now facing:
