Moorhead ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A 17-year-old fugitive wanted in connection with a Clay County drive-by shooting has been arrested after two months on the run.

Moorhead Police announced the arrest on August 19, exactly two months after the original shooting. Officers pulled over a vehicle just after midnight in the 400 block of 32nd Avenue South for an equipment violation. The teen, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was taken into custody.

The suspect was wanted on a nationwide warrant for multiple charges, including two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault, and a dangerous weapons charge. Because he is a juvenile, his identity has not been released.

Authorities say the investigation had previously identified a white Chrysler 300 as the suspect’s vehicle. That car has not yet been located.

The driver of the stopped vehicle, identified as Azarel Chappell, was also arrested. He faces charges of carrying a handgun without a permit and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

Clay County prosecutors had confirmed earlier this summer that they would pursue the attempted murder charges. The arrest now marks a major development in the case, which has drawn significant attention in Moorhead and across the county.

Police say the case remains active, and the missing Chrysler 300 is still part of the investigation.
