Clay County: Mary Nicole Hjelseht Arrested for 2nd Degree Murder, Assault & DANCO Violation

Clay County (trfnews.i234.me) — Mary Nicole Hjelseht, age 36, was arrested on August 16, 2024, by both the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Moorhead Police Department following a serious domestic violence and homicide investigation.

Clay County Sheriff’s Office:

  • DANCO Violation (Domestic Abuse No Contact Order)

Moorhead Police Department:

  • 1st Degree Assault – Great Bodily Harm

  • 2nd Degree Murder – With Intent but Not Premeditated

  • Domestic Assault – Subsequent Violation

  • Loud Noise Violation – Radios, Music, Instruments

Authorities allege Hjelseht was involved in a violent domestic incident that resulted in the death of another individual, along with prior domestic assault history. A violation of a court-issued DANCO order is also part of the case.

Hjelseht remains in custody awaiting felony-level court proceedings.
