Clay County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — A Moorhead man required to register as a predatory offender has been arrested after failing to comply with the law for nearly four months.
Rolland Laverne Basswood, 58, also known as Native Jude Star, was discovered inside a Moorhead residence on June 5, 2025, during the execution of a search warrant. Authorities say he absconded from court-ordered treatment on February 7 and has not been heard from since.
As a homeless registrant, Basswood was legally required to check in weekly with police to report his whereabouts. Instead, he vanished and failed to update his address or status with law enforcement or his probation officer.
During his arrest, Basswood allegedly gave officers multiple false names in an attempt to avoid identification and custody. He was ultimately identified and taken into custody.
Basswood is now charged with:
-
Failure to Register as a Predatory Offender (Felony)
-
Providing False Information to Police (Misdemeanor)
He was previously convicted of the same felony in 2024.
