Clay County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday, April 13, in Moorhead, Minnesota, when 39-year-old James Earl Hamilton was fatally shot in a driveway on the 2700 block of 14th Street South. Authorities have identified the suspect as 35-year-old Jerome Anthony Thomas III, who allegedly fled the scene in a mint-green Chevrolet Trax with temporary Indiana registration.
Surveillance footage revealed that Hamilton and a juvenile were in the driveway when the suspect’s vehicle drove by, and multiple gunshots were heard. The juvenile later identified the shooter as Thomas. Shortly after, another individual, identified as Hamilton’s girlfriend, reported that Thomas approached her vehicle, struck the driver’s side window with his fist, and fired a shot before fleeing.
Investigators tracked the suspect’s vehicle and phones, leading them to Ishpeming, Michigan. On Monday, April 14, around noon, Michigan State Police arrested Thomas and his alleged accomplice, 32-year-old Abby Nicole Fredrickson, during a traffic stop. Both are currently held in the Marquette County Jail awaiting extradition.
Thomas faces charges including second-degree murder with intent, second-degree murder in a drive-by shooting, and two counts of attempted murder. Fredrickson is charged with aiding an offender in second-degree murder.
