Clare Coffey Schulter passed away on February 6, 2026, in her home in Chandler, Arizona after a brief illness.
Clare was born on February 4, 1963 in Grafton, ND, the daughter of Matthew William “Bill” and Patricia (Sweeney) Coffey. She grew up on her family’s farm near Voss, ND and attended Minto Public School, graduating as Valedictorian in 1981. She attended the University of North Dakota, earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1985.
Clare married Charles Jerome “Jerry” Schulter at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Veseleyville, ND on May 27, 1991. They lived in California, where they welcomed their first son, Matthew, and later moved to Arizona, where their second son, Michael, was born.
Clare was a brilliant woman, a talented pianist and musician, and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Schulter, Chandler, AZ; her sons, Matthew (Kathleen Peachey) Schulter, Castle Rock, CO; and Michael (Molly Ziegenbein) Schulter, Scottsdale, AZ; her grandchildren, River, Jude, and Josie Peachey, Castle Rock, CO; sisters, Janet (Chris) Burns, Grand Forks, ND; Anne (Tom) Bry, Bismarck, ND; Mary (Joe) Alonzo, Kansas City, MO, and Margaret (Michael) Morley, Grand Forks, ND; mother-in-law, Rose Schulter, Danville, CA; sisters-in-law, Felicia (Wade) Trammell, Danville, CA and Lorrie (Gary) Heinz, Gilroy, CA; brothers-in-law, Marty (Sue) Schulter, Cupertino, CA and Joe (Susan) Schulter, Las Vegas, NV; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John E. and Lillian (Costello) Coffey and L.D. and Kathleen (Mulloy) Sweeney; parents, M.W. and Patricia (Sweeney) Coffey; father-in-law, Charles A. Schulter; and brother, John D. Coffey.
There will be a private memorial service at a later date.
