welcome back to fish and paul bunyan country chip leader once again joining me today we called this one chips top three walleye waters but he went for well like that I’ve always had a hard time counting hahaha well there it’s hard it’s hard to go three and I mean it’s hard to go five in this neck of the woods so I’m gonna guess leech lake is probably on your list it’s my number one what is without question right now it’s in it’s in great shape it’s a fun like to fish uh it’s got a lot of good your classes in it’s got a decent forage base but it’s not over forged at the moment so let’s Fisher a little bit hungry and that certainly makes for a good lake and it’s and it’s a good hand to hand combat like it’sit’s jig fishing and we do it in a lot of different ways we do it around weed beds we do it on big open flats and we can we can Jake deepwater structures all season long and catch fish and that’s what I like about leech like plus there’s always an opportunity of a of a good one there’s a mid amid mid 20 inch fish which is you know anything over 22 inches start to get some shoulders on it neck it’s fun Egypt where my guests we have a neat topical and today chip leaders for favorite walleye lakes sleeps lake not surprisingly was number one it’s time to find out what comes next I think the simplicity of red lake is really hard to beat especially out our back door in the spring fireball jig and minnow lake it’s Ritz it produces so many fish and I think that it’s got a little bit of an emotional aside to my stories because of the fact that I’ve taken so many nephews and so many people fishing up on Red Lake where they have single-handedly had their best numbers day ever and literally change their viewpoint on fishing and that’s what makes red lake red lake is just the endless amounts of action and fish especially in the springtime when they tend to load up on unsubtle little breaks along the shoreline number one it’s leak number two is red um lake of the woods I love Lake of the Woods I love lake in the woods in the middle summer and I like it and I’ve talked about jigging to this point but one of my favorite parts about Lake of the Woods is fishing the deep water structure on that main Basin saponin bottom bouncers spinners around the basin of those of those rock areas is is a really fun way to fish because of the fact that Lake of the Woods walleyes are angry there they’re mad fish they know they they hit with a vengeance they don’t they’re not soft or not supple they’re not finicky they are they are somebody I thought I maybe that’s why so many good hockey players come out of the border because they all have a little chip on their shoulder and that’s how the wall eyes are on red like I think are on Lake of the Woods they fight a little harder they hit a little harder and they you know when they finally come to the surface there’s you know there’s always a chance that it’s a big one but even if it’s a low mid 20 incher it’s you know it fights like a tank chipler’s final selection oh one more and that is if you’d like to take a trek out west there is nowhere in the world like Devils like North Dakota you know all these all these body waters are close to our home and what makes devil lake so unique is the diversity of the fishery the amount of options that you have in terms of locations of where to fish and the thing and how we catch them i talked about liking to fish you know one on one for the most part a jig and a plastic a mimic mental or an impulse paddle mental those types of baits jigged inside oh and around the weed beds of Devil’s Lake is unlike anywhere else you’ve seen in the world the numbers the numbers will rival anywhere in north america in the average size is is quite remarkable i think there’s probably there’s probably a bigger population of mid 20 inch fish inside Devil’s Lake than just about any body of water in North America right now you
