ELY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A young child was struck by a pickup truck in Ely, Minnesota, on Thursday morning, according to local police. The incident occurred just after 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of Sheridan Street and Central Avenue.
The driver of a Ram pickup was making a left turn onto Central Avenue when the child, who was crossing within the crosswalk, was hit. The child, an 8-year-old, was dragged an estimated 25 to 30 feet from the crosswalk before being able to get up and walk to the curb.
Emergency responders treated the child at the scene before transporting them to Ely Bloomenson Community Hospital. The child was later transferred to a higher-level care facility and is reported to be in stable condition, staying overnight for observation.
The Minnesota State Patrol and Ely Police Department are investigating the incident.
