Charles Peter Hedeen, the son of Clifford and Clara (Oien) Hedeen, was born on August 25, 1940 at Northwestern Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. He attended Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls where he graduated in 1958.

Following high school, Charles attended Dunwoody Industrial Institute in Minneapolis, MN where he earned a Certificate in Highway and Railroad Maintenance and Construction in 1961. He later served in the Minnesota Army National Guard and achieved the rank of Specialist 5.

On December 6, 1964, Charles was united in marriage to Leona Vivian Hovet in Thief River Falls, MN.  Together Charles and Leona made their home in Thief River Falls and raised their son Allen.

Charles was the second-generation owner of Hedeen Construction where he took ownership in 1965.  He started with a Lima 44 dragline and Caterpillar D-7 dozer doing ditching, land clearing, and other earthmoving work. He soon found his niche in bridge replacement and box culvert installation and completed projects of the highest quality throughout every corner of northwestern Minnesota.  He completed his last major box culvert project in 2004 and returned to his roots in completing earthmoving projects for area farmers until his retirement.

Charles was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. He enjoyed spending several winters in Arizona with his wife Leona. He loved to spend time with family and recently moved to Indiana in 2020 to be closer to his grandchildren. Perhaps his greatest joy in life was receiving communion from his two grandchildren and attending church with them.

Charles is survived by his son Allen (Jane) Hedeen of Fishers, IN; grandchildren Grace and Samuel Hedeen of Fishers, IN; sisters-in-law Ardith Solheim of Moorhead, MN and Bernice Hovet of Virginia, MN; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Leona Hedeen; his parents, Clifford and Clara Hedeen; father-in-law and mother-in-law Arnold and Julia Hovet; aunts, Marie Oien, Emily Brekke, Elsie Hedeen, and Mildred Hedeen; cousins Gladys Linser and Emily Brekke; brothers-in-law John Solheim and Bernard Hovet; and a nephew William Hovet.
