Cavalier Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Smuggling Drugs into Jail, Faces 20 Years in Prison

GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – Elaine Alexis Longtine, 26, of Cavalier, waived her preliminary hearing on Monday, June 24, and pleaded not guilty to Class A felony conspiracy to deliver or possess with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a correctional facility. Grand Forks County Correctional Center staff discovered Suboxone film strips hidden inside a greeting card envelope delivered to the jail, according to court documents.

Longtine, who had a prescription for Suboxone, allegedly sent the medication to inmates, including Andrew Harlan Stenerson. Stenerson is believed to have collaborated with Longtine in this smuggling effort. Both Longtine and Stenerson face the same felony charge and could each face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

Longtine’s final dispositional conference is set for 1:30 p.m. on September 19.
