Cavalier Co. Update: Road Rage Crash Suspect Charged

Cavalier County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A corrected criminal complaint has been filed in connection with a September 3 road rage incident that caused a truck rollover on Highway 5 near Hamilton, North Dakota.

According to court documents, 61-year-old Doug E. Carnahan of Bisbee was driving in the passing lane beside a beet truck operated by Bryan Dick of Tioga. The corrected complaint now identifies Dick as the victim. Authorities allege Carnahan swerved toward Dick’s truck, forcing it off the road. The vehicle rolled onto its side in a ditch.

Dick initially reported cuts and bruises, but he has since told TRF News that he also suffered a brain injury from the crash. The investigation led to Carnahan being charged with two Class A misdemeanors: reckless endangerment and aggravated reckless driving.

Under North Dakota law, a Class A misdemeanor carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $3,000 fine. The case is moving forward in Cavalier County court. North Dakota Courts Public Access provides information on criminal cases filed in the state.

Authorities say no additional suspects are being sought in this case. Further updates are expected as court proceedings continue.
