Ransom County, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A bizarre and dangerous situation unfolded near the Sundale Hutterite Colony on June 6, when Eric Johnson, 24, allegedly opened fire on a man trying to rescue a cat.

Using an AK-47-style rifle with a scope, Johnson reportedly fired three rounds from 50 yards, striking the victim’s vehicle but missing the man entirely. After the initial shots, Johnson chased the victim at 80 mph on gravel roads northwest of Milnor, using a PIT maneuver to ram the car off the road.

Miraculously, there were no injuries or rollovers in the high-speed chaos. Johnson allegedly fired again before fleeing.

Authorities later discovered Johnson was driving a stolen 1992 Acura NSX, taken in 2024 and tied to prior police chases.

Johnson has been charged with attempted murder and other felonies. His bond is set at $100,000, and he faces 4 to 20 years in prison if convicted.
