Cass & Pembina County chase suspect identified

Cass County (trfnews.i234.me) – Authorities have identified the woman involved in a border pursuit and interstate chase that began near Pembina and ended south of Gardner on Interstate 29.

Border pursuit starts at Pembina Crossing

Officials say the incident began Saturday afternoon at the Canadian border crossing near Pembina, North Dakota.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a driver went through the international border area and did not stop as directed.

Troopers report that the vehicle then headed south on I-29. Law enforcement from several agencies joined the pursuit as it moved away from the border.

Chase continues into Cass County

Investigators say the vehicle kept traveling southbound toward Cass County. Speeds and driving behavior raised concerns for other drivers on the interstate.

Officers used tactics to slow and stop the vehicle near Gardner, a community north of Fargo.

The driver was taken into custody without reported injuries to the public.

Suspect identified as an Ontario woman

Authorities have identified the suspect as Laurie Vincent, also spelled Lorie Vincent in some records. She is from Ontario, Canada.

Officials say Vincent now faces charges in both Cass County and Pembina County tied to the pursuit and border incident.

Charges in Cass and Pembina counties

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the case includes several counts. Among the charges Vincent faces are:

  • Fleeing a peace officer
  • Reckless endangerment
  • Additional charges in Pembina County related to running the international border

Prosecutors in each county will review reports and decide on final charging documents. More counts could be added as the investigation continues.

Investigation and next steps

Officials say no other people were reported hurt during the pursuit.

Authorities will review dash camera video, border records, and witness statements. That process will help show how the incident developed from the border to the Cass County stop.

Vincent is expected to appear in court at a later date. Court records will list the final charges and possible bond conditions.

Drivers in the area are reminded to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles during incidents like this.

More information about the North Dakota Highway Patrol is available on the agency’s official website.

Details on the Pembina border crossing and related travel rules can be found through U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
