BELTRAMI COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — A Cass Lake woman, Cherie Kay Kingbird, 43, has been charged with felony aiding an offender to avoid arrest following a high-speed pursuit in Beltrami County on June 30, 2025, according to a criminal complaint.

Around 12:45 a.m., Deputy Lavonte Hardie of the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle with a loud exhaust near Highway 89 and Lumberjack Road NW. The vehicle fled at speeds up to 100 mph, leading officers on a 13-mile chase onto the Red Lake Indian Reservation.

During the pursuit, a female passenger was seen leaning out of the vehicle and attempting to blind the deputy with a flashlight. The vehicle eventually drove into an open field, where two adults—Kyle James Neadeau and Cherie Kay Kingbird—were found hiding nearby. Neadeau reportedly had the keys to the vehicle and claimed to have swallowed five grams of meth during the chase.

Both Kingbird and Neadeau were taken into custody. Authorities allege Kingbird knowingly harbored and assisted Neadeau, who is suspected of committing a felony, with the intent of helping him avoid arrest.

Kingbird has an extensive criminal history, including convictions for burglary, drug trafficking, DWI, and receiving stolen property. She is currently awaiting sentencing in a separate felony case involving stolen property.

A warrant has been issued in this latest case.
