Cass County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – Charges have now been filed against a Cass Lake man following a dangerous police pursuit Thursday afternoon. The Minnesota BCA confirmed the incident began when agents attempted to stop a vehicle tied to an outstanding warrant.

According to court records, 39-year-old Randall S. Seelye was under surveillance when he fled a traffic stop near Cass Lake. Authorities say he then led officers on a dangerous chase along Highway 2.

Deputy Nearly Hit

During the pursuit, Seelye allegedly swerved at a deputy who was deploying stop sticks, nearly striking him. He did collide with the deputy’s vehicle, according to the complaint.

Pursuit Ends in Cass Lake

The chase ended inside Cass Lake when officers used a PIT maneuver to disable his vehicle and boxed him in. Seelye refused to comply with commands to exit but was forcibly removed and taken into custody.

Felony Charges

Prosecutors have charged Seelye with three felonies:

  • Assault with a dangerous weapon – vehicle
  • Felony fleeing a peace officer
  • Felony possession of methamphetamine

He remains in custody pending his first court appearance. Authorities say additional charges could be considered as the investigation continues.
