Cass County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Devils Lake woman is facing a felony theft charge after police say she stole a dump truck from a Fargo construction site. The incident occurred late Saturday morning and led to a quick arrest.

According to court documents, Fargo police were dispatched on September 27 at 11:42 a.m. after employees of MP Technologies reported that one of their vehicles had been stolen. The vehicle was described as a red 2021 Ford F750 dump truck valued at about $100,000.

Employees followed the stolen truck as it traveled through Fargo. When it stopped at the intersection of 32nd Avenue South and Veterans Boulevard, one of the workers reached into the cab and removed the keys from the ignition. Police say the company also provided surveillance video showing Tami Lynn Skadsem, identified as the suspect, taking the vehicle from the job site.

Fargo police arrived shortly after and took Skadsem into custody without further incident. She has since been charged with felony theft of property in Cass County District Court. No injuries were reported in connection with the theft.

Authorities remind residents and businesses to secure vehicles and heavy equipment to prevent theft. Felony theft of property in North Dakota carries significant penalties, including possible prison time and fines. More information about theft laws in the state can be found in the North Dakota Century Code.
