Cass County, North Dakota (trfnews.i234.me) — A 17-year-old male was arrested on Sunday, April 6, 2025, after Fargo police responded to reports of gunshots in the 3300 block of 42nd Street South. Upon arrival, officers encountered multiple individuals matching witness descriptions. The teen was arrested for theft of a firearm and transported to juvenile detention. No injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Fargo Police Chief David Zibolski expressed concern over the increasing involvement of juveniles in gun-related incidents. He emphasized the importance of understanding why these youths are out and about, potentially escalating to more severe crimes. Zibolski highlighted that thefts from vehicles are a significant source of firearms accessed by juveniles, noting that individuals often leave guns in their cars, making them accessible targets for youths breaking into vehicles.

The Chief also pointed to the role of social media in exacerbating the problem. He mentioned that students sometimes post images of guns online, which can imply threats to schools and contribute to the cycle of violence.

In light of these concerns, Zibolski urges gun owners to secure their firearms properly. He stated, “If you’re going to carry a gun, make sure it stays in the right hands, and doesn’t land in someone else’s.”
