Cass County Knife Threat Near West Fargo Restaurant

Cass County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Fargo man is facing charges after a reported knife threat near a West Fargo restaurant.

According to a criminal complaint, the incident happened on November 27 in West Fargo, North Dakota.
A man told police he was walking near the restaurant, Mr Wok, that evening.
He said the encounter began as he walked along the sidewalk.

The man said Dana R. Daugherty got out of a vehicle and came toward him.
Court documents say Daugherty then pulled out a switchblade-style knife.
The man reported that Daugherty opened the knife during the encounter.

According to the complaint, the man said Daugherty threatened to kill him.
He told officers he feared for his safety at that point.
The man tried to call 911 on his phone during the incident.

Court records say Daugherty then knocked the phone from the man’s hand.
The complaint states the call could not go through at that moment.
The man later spoke with officers about what happened.
No injuries were listed in the court paperwork.

Investigators later went to a Fargo residence linked to Daugherty.
According to the complaint, officers found him at that address.
Court records say Daugherty admitted there had been an altercation with the other man.
He was then taken into custody.

Cass County prosecutors have charged Dana R. Daugherty with felony interference with a telephone during an emergency call.
He also faces a misdemeanor attempted assault charge.
Both counts are tied to the reported threat near Mr Wok.

Felony interference with an emergency call involves blocking or stopping someone from seeking help.
That can include cutting off a phone call during a crisis.
