POWERS TOWNSHIP, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) – A collision at the intersection of Highway 371 and Highway 87 in Cass County sent one person to the hospital Thursday evening.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash occurred around 6:10 p.m. on July 3rd when a 2007 Honda Accord traveling eastbound on Highway 87 attempted to cross northbound traffic on Highway 371. The Honda was struck on the passenger side by a 2018 Jeep Renegade.

Michael Jason Knettel, 46, of Powers Township, was driving the Honda. He was uninjured.

Sheila Rae Avenson, 59, also of Powers Township, was driving the Jeep and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to St. Joseph’s Medical Center.
Road conditions were dry, and alcohol was not involved. Agencies on the scene included the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, North Memorial, and Backus Fire Department.
