Cass County: Fargo Man Indicted After Gun Threat Incident

Cass County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Fargo man with prior domestic violence convictions has been federally indicted after allegedly pointing an AR-style pistol at people in a parking lot this summer, according to court documents.

Antonio Lamont Lopez Jr. was charged in U.S. District Court for the District of North Dakota with possession of a firearm by a person convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence. The federal indictment was filed on September 18, 2025.

Authorities say the charge stems from an incident on July 13 in the Bell Bank parking lot, located at 15 Broadway North in Fargo. Officers on patrol saw a disturbance involving a pickup truck and several people. A witness told police that the driver of the pickup, identified as Lopez, had pulled out a gun and pointed it at individuals in the parking lot. Another witness confirmed seeing Lopez with a firearm that had a magazine inserted.

Police conducted a high-risk traffic stop at the intersection of 8th Street and 4th Avenue North. Lopez complied with commands and was arrested without further incident. Officers recovered a black Alex Pro Firearms APF-15 .223 caliber AR-style pistol from the center rear floorboard of his truck. The firearm was loaded with 24 rounds of .223/5.56 ammunition and one unfired round in the chamber. The safety was engaged at the time of recovery.

Evidence collected included the weapon, ammunition, and several DNA swabs. Federal prosecutors say Lopez’s two previous convictions — Simple Assault–Domestic Violence in 2019 and Domestic Violence–2nd or Subsequent Offense in 2023 — prohibit him from possessing firearms under federal law.

If convicted, Lopez faces up to 15 years in federal prison. A jury trial is currently scheduled to begin on December 2, 2025, in the U.S. District Court.
