Cass County, North Dakota (trfnews.i234.me) — A tragic hit-and-run incident in downtown Fargo has led to felony charges against 42-year-old Jeremy Jorgenson of Hawley, Minnesota. The collision occurred around 7:57 p.m. on March 12, 2025, at the intersection of NP Avenue and 10th Street North, resulting in the death of 61-year-old cyclist Bernd Scholz of Fargo.
Witnesses reported that Scholz was on the ground in front of Jorgenson’s white SUV when the vehicle accelerated, rolled back, and then moved forward, running over Scholz. Jorgenson fled the scene but was located two days later. He claimed he thought he had hit a pothole and denied backing up. Investigators found fibers matching Scholz’s clothing on the SUV’s undercarriage.
On April 1, 2025, Jorgenson was charged with a Class B felony for leaving the scene of an accident involving death. The case remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
