Cass County (trfnews.i234.me) — On the morning of April 8, 2025, a traffic incident occurred on Highway 371 at County Road 40 in Hackensack, Cass County. A 2021 Jeep Cherokee, driven by 41-year-old Janakaye Ronee Schweitzer of Crosslake, was rear-ended by a 2005 Chevy Silverado operated by 42-year-old Gavin Ray Peterson of Hackensack. The Cherokee had stopped in the northbound lane to yield to a vehicle turning onto County Road 40 when the Silverado failed to stop in time, resulting in the collision.
Schweitzer was transported to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd with non-life-threatening injuries. Peterson was uninjured in the crash. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and no alcohol was involved. The road conditions were dry at the time of the accident.
The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the scene, with assistance from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. The incident is documented under case number 25800527.
