Cass Co. Police Find Three Unconscious, Drugs & Stolen Tools
CASS COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) – Three people from Fargo are facing multiple felony charges after being discovered unconscious in a vehicle in Fargo. The incident occurred on September 25 at about 5:35 a.m., according to court documents.
An officer responding to a disturbance walked through the parking lot at 920 6th Avenue North. He noticed a spray-painted green vehicle with no license plates. Inside were three people who appeared to be passed out. Two of them had tin foil with burnt residue on their laps, believed to be paraphernalia used to smoke fentanyl. The officer also noted the keys were still in the ignition.
When backup arrived, the three were identified as Jacob Wetch, Blake Bueng, and Shyla Kaiawe-Lopes. Wetch was removed from the driver’s seat, placed in handcuffs, and taken to a squad car. Bueng was removed from the passenger seat. Police say powdered fentanyl fell off him during the arrest. Kaiawe-Lopes reportedly resisted before being restrained and handcuffed.
A search of the vehicle revealed more drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, fentanyl, two license plates, and a backpack containing narcotics. Police also recovered numerous power tools reported stolen.
Court documents state Wetch, the vehicle’s owner, is charged with theft and two counts of possession. Bueng faces two counts of possession. Kaiawe-Lopes is charged with two felony possession counts and a misdemeanor for obstructing law enforcement.
The three remain in custody as the investigation continues. For related updates on drug arrests and court cases in the region, visit the North Dakota Courts and the DEA.
