Cass County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A Fargo man is facing serious charges after allegedly trying to set fire to another man’s trailer home on September 26.
According to court records, officers were called to the 3200 block of Broadway North in Fargo at around 6:35 a.m. The incident was first reported as an assault. When officers arrived, the victim told them he had made a citizen’s arrest of the suspect, identified as Emmanuel Kwelweeh, for trying to burn down his trailer.
Kwelweeh claimed his head injury came from being struck with a rubber mallet by the victim during the struggle. Investigators determined that Kwelweeh poured lighter fluid on the trailer and attempted to set it on fire. Authorities say he was upset because his former girlfriend was now with the male victim.
As a result, Kwelweeh now faces multiple felony charges, including endangering by fire, reckless endangerment, and criminal mischief. The case highlights how quickly domestic disputes can escalate into dangerous criminal acts.
Arson cases are treated as high-risk crimes because they endanger not only the targeted property but also nearby homes and people. According to the U.S. Fire Administration, fires set intentionally account for billions in damage nationwide each year. Authorities urge residents to report suspicious activity immediately to prevent similar incidents.
The investigation remains ongoing, and Kwelweeh will appear in court to answer to the felony charges.
