Cass County ( trfnews.i234.me ) — Authorities have released an update on the crash involving a motorcycle and SUV in South Fargo. The incident occurred at 4:03 p.m. Monday at the intersection of 40th Avenue South and 38th Street.

First responders were dispatched after reports of a collision. Investigators say the SUV was heading east on 40th Avenue South. The driver attempted to turn left onto 38th Street and failed to yield to a westbound motorcycle. The motorcycle then collided with the SUV during the turn.

The motorcyclist suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. Emergency crews transported the rider by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that the injuries are serious but do not threaten the victim’s life.

The SUV driver, a 34-year-old from Moorhead, was cited for failure to yield while making a left turn. Police say this type of violation is a common factor in many motorcycle-related crashes. The investigation is complete, and no further charges are expected at this time.

This crash highlights the risks motorcyclists face on busy roads, especially at intersections. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, left-turn accidents involving motorcycles are a frequent cause of serious injuries nationwide.

Drivers are urged to watch carefully for motorcycles, especially when turning at intersections. Motorcycles are often harder to see, and failing to yield can result in severe consequences.
