Cass County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Fargo man is facing serious charges in connection with a major drug trafficking investigation that also involved a Detroit woman. Court records show that John West III of Fargo has now been charged with felony conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver methamphetamine.

This development follows the arrest of Janelle Clark, who was stopped by agents with the Cass and Ward County Drug Task Force on September 10. Authorities had received information that Clark would be arriving on a bus traveling from Minneapolis to Fargo. When she was detained and searched, officers discovered a large quantity of drugs.

According to court filings, Clark had 1,397 grams of methamphetamine — more than three pounds. Agents also seized 86 grams of MDMA pills, commonly known as ecstasy, along with two bags of marijuana. She now faces two felony charges for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and ecstasy, as well as a misdemeanor charge for marijuana possession.

Investigators say West was allegedly detained when he drove up to the bus stop to pick up Clark. His role in the case led prosecutors to charge him with felony conspiracy. Both defendants are being held as authorities continue their investigation into the trafficking operation.

Cases like this highlight the significant role regional drug task forces play in intercepting large drug shipments before they enter the community. Similar operations have taken place across North Dakota and Minnesota, as law enforcement agencies continue to target trafficking routes moving drugs from larger cities into Fargo and surrounding counties.
