Cass County, North Dakota ( trfnews.i234.me ) ā Authorities are investigating a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 eastbound that left one woman seriously injured Tuesday morning.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the collision happened at 8:06 a.m. on August 26 near mile marker 347. Road and weather conditions were reported as good at the time.
Investigators say traffic had slowed near West Fargo following an earlier property-damage crash several miles ahead. A Toyota Tundra, Ford Explorer, and Chevy Impala had stopped in traffic when a 2016 Ford Fusion, driven by 22-year-old Isaac Schultz of Fargo, failed to stop in time.
The Ford Fusion rear-ended the Chevy Impala, pushing it into a Ford Explorer. The Explorer was then forced into the back of a Toyota Tundra. The crash caused disabling damage to multiple vehicles.
The driver of the Impala, 70-year-old Dwayne Presler of West Fargo, was not injured. However, his passenger, 70-year-old Cheryl Presler, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Sanford Medical Center by ambulance. All occupants were wearing seatbelts.
The other drivers involved ā Elbridge Matthews, 28, of Moorhead, Minnesota, and Matthew Oliver, 41, of Fargo ā were not injured. Schultz was cited for following too close, a moving violation.
Emergency responders from the West Fargo Police Department, West Fargo Fire Department, and Sanford Ambulance assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol. Learn more about rear-end collision prevention here.
