Carol E. Johnson, age 98, resident of Lakota, ND, died Monday, June 10, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota.
Carol Eileen Haney was born November 21, 1925 in Clearbrook, MN, the daughter of Clyde and Amanda (Lund) Haney and grew to womanhood on the farm. She graduated from Clearbrook High School in 1944. On October 21, 1947, Carol married Robert Johnson in Fergus Falls, MN. Together they had 3 children. Robert passed away in March of 1974. Carol moved to Petersburg, ND in 1995, then to Lakota in 2008. Carol was avid reader, seamstress, and puzzler. She always had a book beside her chair and was a big fan of the puzzles in the newspaper as well as word searches and crossword puzzle books. Carol was a great baker as well. She always had a cookie jar or Tupperware container full of sweet treats.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Hanssen of Larimore, ND; sons, Doug (Nancy) of Wichita, KS and Randy (Connie) of Lakota, ND; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mavis Szabla of the Twin Cities, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Merwyn and Wallace; sister, Shirley Sonterre; and son-in-law, Dale Hanssen.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home in Lakota, ND, on Monday June 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Memorial Park North Cemetery in Grand Forks, ND.
